Food for Free Turns 30

To kick off its 30-year anniversary, Food For Free will co-sponsor the Cambridge Forum discussion on food security on Wednesday, April 13, 7:00 pm at the First Parish, 1 Church Street, in Harvard Square. A reception at 6:00 pm precedes the event; both are free and open to the public.

The speaker at the April event is Andrew Rimas, editor of the Improper Bostonian and co-author, with Evan D. G. Fraser, of  Empires of Food:  Feast, Famine, and the Rise and Fall of Civilizations.  Rimas will discuss his new book which invites the timely question, what does this sweeping look at the relationships among food, food availability, new foods, and developing human civilizations tell us about food security in our own warming world?  Certainly food for thought as Food For Free enters its third decade and an ever increasing demand for its services.
